"Come and listen to my story..." Elly May is the daughter of Jed Clampett and as such the inheritor of a fortune in oil. The Clampetts are hill folk from deep Appalachia who moved to Beverly Hills as it sounded like it would be similar to home. They are an extremely naive folk, herself included. However, she is, like her father, not actually dull-witted (well, perhaps in terms of extreme naivete, but not in the way of Jethro or some others on the show). Elly May has spent time meeting the rich and famous...without actually ever acting like them!

She's got a great heart and is very much a tomboy. She tries to act ladylike, as her family wishes, but that never lasts long. Not to suggest she's uncouth, exactly, simply that she's unrestrained in feats of physical strength and otherwise rolling up her sleeves. She tries to cook but is horribly bad, to the point that her food can seriously harm someone (though this is not represented as a power as it was almost never used in a productive way)! Elly May loves animals greatly, taking almost any sort of animal to be a pet.

Elly May is extremely strong and athletic, unnaturally so. She also has an amazing rapport with animals, basically able to communicate with them on a simple, intuitive level.
